“My active lifestyle (including swimming, triathlon and downhill skiing) came to a grinding halt in 2009 due to a serious back injury. I had scoliosis and degenerative spondylosis in my lower spine. “In late 2012, I suffered both a shoulder injury and a groin strain within 2 weeks of each other whilst playing rugby. I continued to train at the gym with my own modifications whilst undertaking extensive physiotherapy. When the physio didn’t improve the pain in my groin I was referred to a number of surgeons.
“I had been suffering with chronic vertigo for several years and despite many consultations with leading neurologists and other physicians at some of the world’s top New York medical facilities there was no relief in sight to what at the time was a truly debilitating illness.
